That's a good idea, I need to put mine there also. Thanks.

People think I'm paranoid because I own guns.
If I own guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant"
is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist ".

When Obongo shuts off certain satellites, it won't affect your compass.

You should always keep a good old compass. But to shut down the sats they too lose the ability to use them. So they would cut their nose off to spite themselves

Good point, but unless they are teaching navigation
the old way, with a compass, lots of them will be
lost. But, like you say, cut off their nose....

Well..... not exactly. They can reprogram/restrict, so civvie GPSs won't have accuracy worth squat. But, the MIL GPSs will still have accuracy to 2-3 ft., or better. The big change came during Clinton's tenure, when he forced the "spooks" to allow the accuracy enhanced for the civvie GPS market. I'd guess if SHTF came in a big way, the civvie GPS accuracy would be about 2-3 friggin miles.

Well, having taught cross country navigation in the Corp,
I could probably dust off the maps and compass and still
find my way around.

Selective Availability "spoofing" was active during the first Gulf War (Desert Shield/Storm) and the non-encrypted units still retained accuracy within 100 meters as long as they received at least 3 satellites.

That said, I still keep my library of pre-surveyed range fan cards of my AO handy.
