First 'real' go at 500m

Postby Koched » Sun 07 Apr, 2013 7:06 pm

Hey guys, Took my 98B out to 500m on the weekend for the first serious attempt at making holes in paper. My first shot was high and to the right. I had 520m(ish) dialed in on the BORS. Took it back to 500 on the BORS and started making holes. I must say I was slightly impressed with myself. I was using 300g HPBT Lapua ammo. Does anyone know what 'load' I should be selecting on my BORS? Whatever I have selected (can't remember, gun is home and I'm at work), seems to be spot on! Purely chance at this stage!

Please ignore the shrapnel wounds my target has suffered. Some '_dick_' set his target up in front of a rock and about a foot away from my target - very unimpressed!

I also went to 500 yards today, ended up with 2-3 round groups at 2 inches each. One load was 285g hornadys w/lapua brass and 92.5g of h1000 and the other load was 300smk w/90g of H1000. Very pleased with this rifle!

500 yards = 457.2 meters - That extra 42.8 meters could explain why my groups aren't as tight!
