Barrel Life Question

Postby jreaves1637 » Thu 04 Oct, 2012 7:17 pm

So I recently purchased a M99A1. I learned from talking with barrett the barrel is steel and the barrel life is around 800 to 1000 rounds. So what does that actually mean, would I see a big decrease in accuracy after 800 to 1000 rounds of shooting? I hated to hear that the price of having it re barreled should I ever go that route some day costs about half of what I paid for it new :(

thanks for your time.

Actually, barrel life on an unlined 50 BMG barrel is between 8000 and 10,000 rds. Barrel life will depend on type of ammo and how it is maintained. Looks like you lost a zero somewhere.
Lack of planning on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on mine.
