M107 A1 Magazine internal length

Postby Kiwi Greg » Fri 06 Sep, 2013 11:40 pm

Hi I'm back :cheer:

I have a 107 A1 showing up hopefully next week, it has cleared initial testing/approval, just waiting for the A -Okay you can have it confirmation.

I was wondering what the internal length of the magazine is, as it is showing up in a week or two, separate from the rifle.

I would like to get some rounds organised & fire it before the magazine shows up.

I have the ADI 660 FMJ projectiles.

So if some one could give me a heads up that would be great thanks & any run of the mill load data would be great two.

I don't expect it to be as accurate as my 375s but it sure will be fun :headbang:

Looking forward to stretching her legs once she is run in, I have some CEB projectiles coming which I will single feed.

Looking forward to see her in the flesh & not just photos from a few hours drive away.....

Thanks for your help, Cheers Greg.

Internal measurement is approximately 5.493" to 5.501" on the ones I measured. This is to accommodate a mil-spec cartridge which is 4.400" to 4.450". I hope this helps.
Lack of planning on your part does NOT constitute an emergency on mine.

Thanks :cheer:

I should receive it this morning, very exciting, not much sleep last night & I thought I was too old for that sort of thing

So there is heaps of spare room in the magazine for longer projectiles, that sounds promising :headbang:

I think Ranger meant 5.400-5.450 inches for the standard mil-spec round. To get my rounds .020 off the lands they exceeded the magazine length and had to be single loaded. You can load the Hornady 750g Amax bullets to a C.O.L. of
5.450" which will fit in the magazine. Congrats on your new rifle! :cheer:

Got her assembled earlier today, got chamber lengths for various projectiles, just sorting starting loads etc

She is a very nice bit of kit looking forward to getting the mags, but more so making noise with her in the weekend :headbang:

One of these days my fat fingers and lack of proof reading is going to seriously get me into trouble. You are correct, it should have been 5.400 - 5.450.
