FCSA 600 Yard Practical Match Won With My M95

Postby Thunder Ammo » Sat 23 May, 2009 11:28 pm

Today I shot a 133 out of 150 to win the 600 yard prone match. The match was held at the NRA Range in Raton using Barrett ball ammo. It was held in conjunction with our 1000 yard match which will continue tomorrow.

Thank you Barrett for building such a fine rifle!

If I own guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Yes it was all Fifty Cal.
At the end of Sat I was second in the Hunter Class by one point with a 140. Sunday I had a couple of fliers, brutal wind conditions, and was knock out of second place.
My best five shot 1000 yard group was 9 5/8" with four of them measuring 3 5/8". My 11 1/8" group had three shots measuring 1 1/8". All total I had five sub MOA five shot groups of the twelve groups I shot.
I was shooting my Match82 bullet out of a Viper with a Lilja barrel looking thru a Nightforce NXS 8-32 scope.

Good thing the Barrett M95 came thru for me in the 600 yard Practical Match, that is the only thing I won.

I will post some pictures soon.

I was shooting a 600 yard match here in Florida and the fellow next to me was the owner of Anzio Iron works.

http://www.anzioironworks.com/

Nice fellow we exchanged tips on reloading for the 338 Lapua and the 50BMG.

Just curios did you sort the Bullets for weight and Ogive?

I know it helps when I shoot 1000 yards.

My latest trick comes courtesy of John Whidden Bullet pointing

http://www.whiddengunworks.net/pointingdie.html

I need to still test out the lapua Bullets in 750 and 800 Gr.

No bullet sorting allowed. We could not open the box till the Directer said go.

Then we had three sighters at a 12"x6" block, five for score, one sighter, five for score, one sighter, and five for score. All fifteen where fired at a static target and scored at the end of the three strings.

I would just like to be able to shoot at a thousand yards to see what the 99 will do on a consistant basis.

Hognuts

length 5.70 inches and a Amax 750 CCI primers ans 200 to 230 gn H50bmg.

With this load my M99 is very accurate.

This will hit the 5" swinger at 1000.

Randy

wow excellent shooting with box stock ammo.
