Re: BORS System won't power up

The forum was a tad messy until very recently, and now that it is cleaned up, I apologize for the delayed response.

Please contact Optics Tech Support at x326, or any of our Customer Service Representatives. We are glad to assist with getting the unit in for repair.

Re: PMC Bronze ammo

That 3080fps advertised is based on a 36" barrel. The M99 has either a 29" barrel (fluted) or a 32" heavy barrel (no flutes). Most typical ball ammo is about 2750-2800fps out of our rifles, but the PMC looks to be a tad faster than "typical". You are best to chronograph the ...

Re: Scope choice for mrad

If you want a scope to shoot between 400-1500 meters, you are going to be pretty limited on options as you will require a scope with a minimum of 72-75 MOA of internal adjustment left after a 300 meter zero. This means you actually need to look at scopes with 100 MOA or more on internal adjustment t...

Re: barrett-specific Torx bits?

All Barrett Scope rings use a T25 Torx bit for the scope ring caps screws (4 per ring). The ExRings have two Side Locking Screws in each base that require a T27 Torx bit. the Torx tool packaged in the ExRings has a T25 end, and a T27 end. We do not use specialized Torx bits in any of our scope rings...

Re: New at Scopes, need help with initial sighting in

Unfortunately, that is not the proper way to zero the cartridge in BORS at all. Unless you have contacted Optics Tech Support (me) after doing this, I guarantee that the calibration of the BORS unit is not correct, which could lead you to starting over from scratch if the dial is moved while powered...

Re: New at Scopes, need help with initial sighting in

Call in and ask for Optics Tech Support. I can certainly help there. Trying to explain via the forum would be a painfully long process that I could walk/talk you through in just a few minutes. Most gun shops do OK getting everything mounted. After that, not so much. Calibration is typically buggered...

Re: 7mmum?

No, there are no 7mm cartridges built into the factory library. But, you can certainly use the Barrett software to create your own custom cartridge libraries and program the BORS unit for any cartridge/caliber, supersonic or subsonic. All you need is the manufacturer's recommended Ballistic Coeffici...

Re: zero gap ring installation

Yes sir, you are correct. The indexed side is on the scope centerline and gets tightened/torqued first as the "ZeroGap" side. The non-indexed side is cut .045" below the centerline and a small gap should be present after torqueing to the 35 inch pounds.

Re: Battery Life

BORS is a microprocessor controlled device. It does not have a "hard" disconnect switch like a flashlight. There will be a very small leakage current drain when powered off. If you are on a hunt and the battery is left in for a day or two, there will not be any noticeable loss in battery l...

Quick Update to all: There is one known tablet that the Barrett Software 2.0 and higher will run on; the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The 2.0 and 2.1 software were tested on this tablet with no issues detected. The reason may be because it is more of Laptop, with a touch screen only, and the Intel i ser...
