Re: 98B Cleaning Advice.

Hey guys, While reading through this thread, I noticed something that you might want to consider. When air is compressed in most air compressors, the moisture is 'squeezed' out and condenses in the tank, where it usually sits until it rusts through the tank or gets sucked down the discharge with the...

California Gun Nut?

I was sent the following in an email. Does anyone have any background or can validate the initial statement? Fiddler (my secret escape tunnel has an electric tram so my ghillie suit doesn't get torn) ---------------------------------------- In the news this week a southern California man was put und...

No luck here; the bullet keeps falling out of my .50 BMG cases.
Perhaps you intend to load them for something other than a Barrett.

Re: Reloading 50BMG

Lobo, Welcome to the forum and reloading. You left some rather important issues open in order to make specific recommendations (such as do you only reload for 1 rifle in .50 and has the 200-300 rounds been reloaded previously). Good idea to start basic and thereafter strive for accuracy (at destinat...

Hog meets Mr. Barrett

I've got a bit of a feral hog problem on my Central Texas ranch and a rather morbid curiousity has been brewing for some time. Hogs are typically nocturnal, especially in our Texas heat, so I usually dispatch them with some .22 magnum lever actions that I have setup for night usage (the light recoil...

Re: Is your spring getting soft?

"Since the creep is exponentially dependent on temperature through an Arrhenius relationship to activation energy of the creep mechanism, at room temperature you can expect this length of time to be a factor of about 10^18 longer (that’s about 3.7 million trillion years, I think)." Thought...

Re: Lube preferences?

With an avatar like that, I would recommend astroglide... Seriously, the advice that you received so far is pertinent. The WD-40 is not a good idea for much of anything on a firearm and, if you do, at least follow it with a light coat of something to replace the protective film that the WD-40 will r...

Re: Top Shot - "The 1000 Yard Shot" featuring our Model 82A1 .50

Perhaps its just me, but I enjoy the practice sessions more than the silly voting and overly-dramatic elimination challenges. I hear what you're saying about the egos though, Shadow. At this point, it would be much more entertaining if they just locked them in a compound and had a true "elimina...

Perhaps I'm just a sick, twisted individual but when I clicked on the topic of "Girlfriend Shooting" I was expecting something just a bit different. I suppose that would be listed under "Ex-Girlfriend Shooting".

Re: Top Shot - "The 1000 Yard Shot" featuring our Model 82A1 .50

Looks like the old girl didn't soil her reputation too badly. A lot of these "reality" shows are just too embarrassing to watch, but the 1k shoot was pretty straightforward. After reviewing the footage, I suspect that the pro had already dialed in the elevation. I didn't note which scope t...
